Cosmic Pet Products was originally established in 1975 as Cosmic Cat Corporation. It was developed out of the experience of Leon Seidman who was merely trying to make his cat, WB, happy. When he repeatedly brought home store bought catnip to treat his cat, WB repeatedly shook his head and walked away from it. Leon decided to get back to nature, go into the country, and get some good stuff.

So he did and brought some back for his friends. He also continued to save the seeds. He planted then in the garden and they germinated and flourished. He kept going out to the country and cutting wild catnip to give to his cat and his friend's cats. His garden grew lush with catnip and his cat and his friend's cats were very happy.

So after a year of giving catnip away to people (some of whom were total strangers) who wanted to make their cats happy, it dawned on Leon that he should create a business from catnip and make cats happy everywhere.

Twenty-five years later, Cosmic Catnip is the worlds leading brand of catnip. Cosmic Pet Products produces more packages of catnip than any other company anywhere. Cosmic Pet also is the worlds leading manufacturer of corrugated cat scratchers, catnip, catnip treats, and is the largest manufacturer of catnip toys in the United States.
